چکیده

Neonatal sepsis still remains a serious problem of modern health care, being one the main causes neonatal and infant mortality, as well disability in surviving children. Due to high risk adverse outcomes, early (ENS), especially preterm infants, attracts special attention. At same time, if previous decades causative agents ENS were Escherichia coli Streptococcus group B, then recent years it has been noted that while maintaining leading value etiological structure , frequency detection Haemophilus influenzae began increase. The article contains review publications on role formation perinatal losses, significance this pathogen development sepsis. also presents clinical case report caused by . Comparison of early-onset neonatal sepsis caused by Escherichia coli and group B Streptococcus.

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to compare maternal characteristics and neonatal morbidity and mortality rates that are associated with early-onset neonatal sepsis that is caused by group B Streptococcus and Escherichia coli. STUDY DESIGN This was a retrospective review of newborn infants with a positive blood culture (and/or cerebrospinal fluid) that was positive for either E coli or...

Maternal colonization and neonatal sepsis caused by Edwardsiella tarda.

A case of neonatal sepsis caused by Edwardsiella tarda, a bacterium usually associated with freshwater ecosystems, is described. The infant's mother was immersed in lake water during the sixth month of pregnancy and had vaginal and gastrointestinal colonization with the same strain of E tarda as the infant at the time of delivery. This case suggests that maternal exposures to contaminated bodie...

Etiological profile of early neonatal bacterial sepsis by multiplex qPCR.

INTRODUCTION Given the major impact in terms of morbidity and mortality that episodes of early neonatal sepsis (ENS) have on both newborns and health systems, this study aimed to identify the etiological profile of early neonatal bacterial sepsis by a multiplex quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). METHODOLOGY Blood samples from newborns diagnosed with clinical ENS and hosp...

Neonatal Sepsis: An Update

Sepsis is the most common cause of neonatal mortality. As per National Neonatal-Perinatal Database (NNPD), 2002-2003, the incidence of neonatal sepsis in India was 30 per 1000 live births. Signs and symptoms of sepsis are nonspecific; therefore empirical antimicrobial therapy is promptly initiated after obtaining appropriate cultures. The early manifestations of neonatal sepsis are vague and il...
